SIX METERS EQUALS ENDLESS CRAZY: June 2011

Hello friends and family! We apologize for our prolonged absence, however as most of you know we welcomed our twins, Tristan Tate and Scarlett Laureen, in the wee hours of the morning on March 8th via c-section. The unexpected spontaneous labor event happened at 12:45am. Our bedroom floor turned into a swimming pool while Tim grabbed towels and attempted to call the Doctor. We were surprisingly calm while we stood there trying to believe it was really happening! We arrived at the hospital grinning from ear to ear and still in shock at 2:45am. We were greeted shortly after by Gramsie (my mom) and Grammy-K and Grandpa-D (Tim's parents). Tristan was born at 4:05am weighing in at 4lbs 11oz and Scarlett was born at 4:06am and weighed 3lbs 11oz. They bought themselves a 3 week visit to the NICU for arriving so early (34 weeks and 1 day to be exact), which also meant mom and dad lived there too! We made so many trips back and forth to the hospital, I think we can drive there now with our eyes closed! But, of course it was all worth it to spend time with our tiny bundles of joy! They came home on March 29th just in time for mommy's birthday :) and let us tell you...Two babies at once is more than two handfuls! We quickly realized just how much our lives had changed in so many ways! Sleep came at 1 hour intervals while laundry piled up along with dishes and bottles! Luckily we had help from Gramsie and Aunties, Melanie and Shannon, to survive the first couple months! We couldn't have done it without them! We now have enlisted Grammy-K and Grandpa-D along with Auntie Katy to help with our new additions to the family.

Things have started to settle down just a tad, now that we are finding a routine. Tristan and Scarlett are also starting to sleep for at least 5 to 6 hours at night, which helps mom and dad to not feel like zombies. Lucas and Lauren have also adjusted well to having two noise makers in the house! Lauren, naturally, is starting to become another little mommy, while Lucas enjoys them when it fits in to his very busy schedule haha

We are excited to continue to watch these little ones grow and change as we cannot believe how much they have changed already! Scarlett was 7lbs 7oz and Tristan was 8lbs 10oz at our last Doctor's appointment about a month and a half ago. Their 4 month check up is sneaking up on us quickly!

I hope this finds everyone well as the summer starts and the sun is shining! I am posting some pictures, but these are not the best as most of them were taken with our phones. We have been having computer troubles and haven't been able to upload pictures, so I hope you enjoy these ones until new ones come in!
